The Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Serbia, His Excellency Edward Ferguson, visited the MMA.
The reason for the meeting with the Head of the Military Healthcare Department, Brigadier General Radivoje Andjelkovic VMD, and the Head of the MMA, Colonel Prof. Dr. Miroslav Vukosavljevic is the beginning of the three-day toxicology and war surgery seminar, which is traditionally held in this military medical institution.
In his welcoming speech, General Andjelkovic referred to bilateral international cooperation in the field of military medicine, which is reflected in a large number of activities during the year.
- British and Serbian medics were on the same side of the trenches in two world wars, that's why today it's nice to see that even after 70 years we are learning and improving our knowledge together - said General Andjelkovic.
He also added that technical and technological modernization and the development of medicine require constant improvement and information exchange, that through seminars like today's, we improve interoperability and opportunities for cooperation. Also, such gatherings have the other, personal dimension and create new bridges and friendships between people and nations.
Ambassador Ferguson, opening the seminar, emphasized the dynamic military medical cooperation between the two countries, which has been intensively developing over the past years, thanks, among other things, to the continuous support of the head of the medical services. He also highlighted numerous aspects of the cooperation of medical forces, including exchanging knowledge and experience through international visits and teaching activities of military doctors and medical technicians.
In the coming days, members of the Armed Forces of Great Britain will have the opportunity to have a comprehensive overview of topics such as plastic surgery and war wounds, maxillofacial surgery, war injuries of the extremities and abdomen, the organization of the work of the National Poison Control Center of the Military Medical Academy with the teachers of the Military Medical Academy from the individual branches of surgery, preventive medicine and toxicology. and various toxicological methods, characteristics, and defenses against biological agents.
