A renovated laboratory was opened today at the Institute of Transfusionology and Hemobiology of the Military Medical Academy.

According to the Head of this organizational unit, MMA prof. Dušan Vučetić, Ph.D., the work of the Institute was modernized and in the "heart of transfusionology of the MMA" the latest generation apparatus was installed for the automatic determination of blood groups, cross-tests in patients and all immunohematological analyses. Along with more efficient analysis, computerized data storage is also possible.

On an annual basis, about 8,000 determinations of blood groups and about 11,500 cross-tests are performed at the Institute of Transfusion and Hemobiology of the MMA for the needs of the operational program at the MMA and the daily work of the Institute.

With the expected decrease in blood supplies during the summer months, we invite all people of goodwill to donate blood at the Institute of Transfusion and Hemobiology of the MMA. Blood can be donated every working day from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The collected blood units will be used for the treatment of military and civilian-insured persons at the MMA.
