Regional Meeting IBD Young Experts Connection gathered at the Military Medical Academy over 50 colleagues from Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Hungary, Bulgaria and Serbia who are specialists for the treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases. Meeting was officially opened and leaded by the Head of the MMA Clinic for Gastroenterology and Hepathology Col. Prof. Dr. Radoje Doder and coordinated by Col. Prof. Dr. Dino Tarabar.

Aim of the named event was acquiring wider knowledge and improving diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel diseases through the activities as introduction with the work of the MMA Clinic for Gastroenterology and Hepathology, interactive discussion and solving clinical cases, thus sharing experiences with the colleagues from our region.

Prior to the meeting the guests had the opportunity to visit the premises of the Clinic for Gastroenterology and Hepathology and its Diagnostic Center which has left a special impression, convincing them that MMA has all the possibilities to carry out a wide range of endoscopic and other diagnostic procedures from the most simple to the most demanding and complicated. Same Day Hospital, as the place where patients pass some time after having done diagnostic and endoscopic procedures and where biological therapy is provided, according to their comments is organized on such a level that it might serve as a model how to organize this kind of service in the other institutions responsible for the treatment of these patients.

For already 30 years Military Medical Academy represents the leading institution on the territory of ex-Yugoslavia in the field of inflammatory bowel disease treatment. The MMA physicians are respecting their organizational scheme thus always very dedicated to permanent improvement of diagnostic procedures and treatment, both conservative and surgical in this gastroenterology area. Having in mind long time clinical experience, available medical equipment and unique work organization, MMA has been recognized as regional education center in the field of inflammatory bowel diseases.
