Recognition to the Military Anesthesiology Service

Belgrade, May 17 - The Anesthesiology Section of the Serbian Medical
Society officially celebrated 50 years of its existence at the Serbian
AF Guard’s Club. On that occasion, retrospection of the development of
the Serbian Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Service was given and the
ways of its development in the future were presented. The role and the
importance of the Military Anesthesiology Service were particularly
apostrophized.
The first physician in the former Yugoslavia having specialized in the field of anesthesiology was Colonel, Prof. Sever Kovacev from the Central Military Hospital, a precursor of the today’s Military Medical Academy. Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Clinic was given a special recognition while MMA deputy head Col. Prof. Nikola Filipovic, MD, PhD, head of the MMA Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Clinic Col. Prof. Predrag Romic, MD, PhD and anesthesiologist, Assist. Prof. Maja Surbatovic, MD, PhD were presented with plaques of the Section for Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Treatment.
