Marking the Military Medical Academy 170th anniversary of existence and work, it has been organized the preventive skin exams aimed at early diagnosis of melanoma and the other forms of skin cancers. Checkups were carried out the MMA Clinic for Dermatovenerology and Clinic for Plastic Surgery and Burns collaborating with the daily newspaper "Politika".

The importance of aforementioned action was the promotion of necessary preventive skin exams concerning that the melanoma incidence rises each year in Serbia and world-wide. This was also the way to raise the human consciousness about the regular exposure to the sun rays since melanoma is directly consequence of long time exposure to the sun and ultraviolet radiation.

The activity was well received by citizens and all scheduled terms for checkups were filled. Total number was 117 examined patients, among them 20 percents need to continue with the additional analysis. Doctors from the Military Medical Academy remind all interested that skin exam, following the appropriate medical referral, can be carried out both at the MMA or any other specialized institution.
