Patriarch Pavle passed away

Belgrade, November 15 - His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Pavle passed away today, on November 15, 2009 at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade.
Patriarch Pavle was admitted to the Military Medical Academy on November 10, 2007 in a life-threatening condition. During the whole period of his hospital treatment, the MMA's medical team composed of the most eminent experts led by the MMA's head continuosly and regularly cared and monitored the health condition of His Holiness. Thanks to intensive efforts of His treating doctors and the application of the state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment methods, several critical episodes of His disease were successfuly handled. The Holly Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, whose members were with the Patriarch Pavle all the time, regualrly reported on His health condition.
In spite of all measures and efforts undertaken for his care and treatment, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Pavle passed away at 10:45 today, while sleeping in his room at the Military Medical Academy.
