Participation of the MMA at the Health Festival in Belgrade

The Military Medical Academy was one of the participants of the 17th Spring Health Festival, which was held from Thursday, April 12th to Friday, 13th April 2018 at the Army House in Belgrade.
Opening the Festival, the minister without portfolio in charge of demography and population policy, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic, emphasized that the key issue is a multidisciplinary approach to preventive medicine in medicine and reminded that the fight for healthy descendants is one of the main tasks of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
Acting Head of the Military Medical Academy Colonel Prof. Dr. Miroslav Vukosavljevic reminded that the MMA has been part of the Health Festival since its establishment.
- MMA uses every opportunity to meet citizens’ needs with preventive examinations in different medical branches. Thus, this year we decided to provide ultrasound examinations of carotid arteries and arteries of the lower extremities on the first day, and afterwards vascular surgeons would perform examinations - said Colonel prof. Dr Vukosavljevic adding that it was the most sought-after specialist examinations at the MMA.
He pointed out that opportunities such as the Health Festival and free preventive examinations in many civilian and military health institutions are important allies in detecting the disease at an early stage.
- Without any scheduling or referrals because those issues could be a problem for some citizens, citizens can be examined, but firstly they will get important information on preserving health, prevention and novelties in various branches of medicine - said Colonel Prof. Dr. Vukosavljevic, using the Festival to announce free medical examinations of all specialties that would be held on Friday, April 20th, at the MMA on the occasion of the upcoming SAF Day.
The MMA radiologists performed preventive ultrasound examinations of carotid arteries and arteries of the lower extremities during the Festival, and on the next day, vascular surgeons performed manual examinations and consultations regarding ultrasound findings. During the two days at the MMA stand, interested citizens could sign donor cards.
Members of the MMA held lectures on current topics in medicine. Pediatrician Olivera Covic Nestorovic, professor of infectious diseases Dr Vesna Begovic Kupresanin and epidemiologist Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Zeljko Jadranin talked about vaccination, while on the celiac-free diet with gluten spoke the Head of the Clinic for Gastroenterology and Hepatology of the MMA Colonel Prof. Dr. Radoje Doder. Dr. Svetlana Antic from the MMA Nephrology Clinic lectured about kidney failure. Within the framework of accredited lectures for health workers, lecture on ethical problems in this branch of medicine was held by Dr. Igor Radulovic from the MMA Psychiatry Clinic.
