On Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases

Inter clinical seminar on the prevention of cardiovascular disease in the organization of the Group of Internal Medicine Clinics, Group of Neuropsychiatric Clinics and Treatment Sector MMA was held at the Military Medical Academy.
Head of the Group of neuropsychiatric clinics Col. Prof. Dr. Ranko Raicevic said that regular maintenance of these types of seminars is due to consultative approach in the treatment of patients as well as the basics of clinical medicine and the concept of a general hospital about which the MMA is recognized. He pointed out that fostering such a distinctive style is necessary for joint operation and multidisciplinary nature, and in order to provide the best treatment to all types of patients.
During four lectures it was discussed on the prevention of cardiovascular disease in cardiac patients, patients with diabetes and chronic renal insufficiency, and in patients with ischemic brain disease. The lecture of MMA’s Deputy Head Col Prof. Dr. Dragan Dincic encompassed secondary prevention of myocardial infarction. In addition to the latest recommendations and results of clinical studies, he talked about the types of therapy, various medications and their efficiency as well as reducing the number of risk factors. Head of the Clinic for Endocrinology Col. Prof. Dr. Zoran Hajdukovic spoke about the prevention of cardiovascular disease in patients with type 2 diabetes. It was also discussed about primarily current drugs in the treatment of this type of patients, and the results of new research and new approaches to treatment. During the lecture of Head of Group of Internal Medicine Clinics MMA Col Prof. Dr Djoko Maksic participants had the opportunity to hear about the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) preservation of blood vessels, nephrology risk factors for cardiovascular disease in patients with CKD, as well as the sensitivity of timely diagnosis. Lecture on neurocardiology and cerebrovascular diseases held the Head of the Group of Neuropsychiatric Clinics Col Prof. Dr. Ranko Raicevic. He spoke about the acute cardiovascular neurological events, the connection between epilepsy and cardiovascular disease, correlation between brain ischemia and cardiac muscle, as well as about the consequences of such events.
