The Official Session of the Teaching-Scientific Council was held at the amphitheater of the Military Medical Academy to mark a great jubilee – 165 years of the MMA tradition and work.
Major General Prof. Miodrag Jevtić acting in the capacity of both the MMA head and the president of the Teaching-Scientific Council, opened the Session. In his opening address, he said that he was very proud because the Military Medical Academy remained a very powerful and prestigious institution, which was completely revitalized and, with dignity and enthusiasm, was headed forward following the paths of the-state-of-the-art world medicine.
During the session, diplomas were awarded to holders of master’s and PhD degree who defended their thesis and dissertations in between the MMA’s two birthdays. There were four persons who received the PhD degree and 22 physicians who defended their master’s thesis in that period. There were also 42 physicians having passed the final specialist’s exam and 8 who passed their subspecilist’s examination. The names of the best entry-level students of the Medical Services Reserve Officers School were read out..
On this occasion of celebrating 165 years of tradition and for the successful cooperation in promoting universal values, the MMA plaques were awarded to Simpo Company, National Theater of Belgrade, the Evening Daily ‘’Večernje Novosti’’ and the RTS.
On the occasion of commemorating the165th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Vladan Đorđević, the first accomplished Serbian Surgeon, the first Colonel in the Medical Services, the founder of the Serbian Medical Society and Serbian Red Cross Association, the MMA head presented ‘Dr. Vladan Đorđević’ medals to retired Major Generals Mihajlo Đuknić and Milomir Todorović and Prof. Dr. Božin Radević for their contribution to the development of Serbian Surgery
“To the glory of Serbian Surgery!” said General Jevtić congratulating the awarded on their medals.
