An eight-member team from the Military Medical Academy has taken second place at the Army Medical Services Tactical Training Exercise (AMSTTE) Competition in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
This is the first time a medical team from the Military Medical Academy has taken part in this competition. Nevertheless, they placed high, having achieved excellent scores in events involving treatment and evacuation of multiple casualties, demonstrating, at the same time, exceptional physical fitness under arduous weather conditions over rough terrain.
The other 14 national teams, which all have previous experience in this competition, included members of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United States of America and the Kingdom of Norway.
The AMSTTE Competition is a combination of orienteering and travelling in formation carrying the correct amount of weight and equipment. It lasts for 12 hours and competitors are required to find several remote spots, travelling over various types of terrain.
The gruelling and physically challenging competition includes a wide range of medical and military skills, from the use of military equipment through to casualty care and evacuation under fire. To reach the goal, the competitors had to demonstrate knowledge and resistance in a series of crisis scenarios and situations, ultimately proving the dedication and determination of military medical experts working in teams.
The MMA team included Captain 1st Class Branko Đorđević, MD, Captain Mina Stanić, MD, Captain Nikola Trifunović, MD, Captain Nemanja Vasiljković, MD, Captain Nemanja Mitrović, MD, Captain Stanislava Bondžulić, MD, civilian Adriana Šiljaković and Junior Sergeant Biljana Medić.
