Military Medical Academy at European Dermato Oncology Congress

European Association of Dermato Oncology organized the 8th EADO Congress (www.melanoma2012.com) in Barcelona, Spain during the period November 14-17, 2012. Beside the MMA’s representatives, it gathered more than 900 physicians in the field of dermatology, oncology, surgery and the other specialties. A special significance has been given to new biological and genetic therapy in melanoma treatment.
Prof. Dr. Zvonko Magic, Prof. Dr. Lidija Kandolf Sekulovic, Asst. Prof. Dr. Zeljko Mijuskovic and Dr. Milica Rajovic were present at the Congress on behalf of the Military Medical Academy. Prof. Dr. Kandolf Sekulovic represented her oral presentations under the titles Clinicopathological features and prognosis in BRAF mutated metastatic melanoma - A single center analysis and Vitamin D receptor gene polymorphisms are associated with increased melanoma risk while the presentation delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Zeljko Mijuskovic carried the name Determination of survivin and VEGF levels in patients with melanoma. Poster presentations of our representatives were as follows: Epidemiology, clinicopathological characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of melanoma in Serbia – The Melanoma Focus study by Prof. Dr. Sekulovic, Lymphoscintigraphy and sentinel lymph node biopsy in patients with cutaneous melanoma:”non classical” drainage sites by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ljiljana Jaukovic and Sentinel lymph node status clinicopathological and prognostic associations - initial experience from the single center by Dr. Milica Rajovic.
During the Congress, participants intensified the relations with the world leading experts from the field of dermato oncology designated as the future lecturers at the 2nd/19th Congress of Serbian Association of Dermatovenerologists (www.udvs2013.org) organized by the MMA’s Clinic for Dermatology.
