Meeting of the medical nurses on the origins and development of nursing profession

Belgrade, September 30 - In Belgrade, last week, under the auspice of the Ministry of Health, Republic of Serbia, medical nurses and technicians of Serbia held the congress devoted to the origins and development of nursing as a profession in our area. The MMA personnel, the head of the Health Department’s Section for professional methodological work Mrs. Gordana Pavković and Chief Nurse of the Clinic for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Mrs. Bojana Jovanović took a very active part in the work of the Congress. Mrs. Gordana Pavković gave a very noticeable speech on ‘the times of positive changes and challenges facing the MMA Nursing Service’. In her speech dedicated to the development of Nursing Service at the Military Medical Academy, she pointed out the role of this profession as one of the crucial supports of medicine and significant pillar that ensures functioning of Treatment and Nursing Services.
New organizational structure of the Military Medical Academy adopted in 2005, included the establishment of the Health Department intended to promote nursing practice and operation of the Nursing Service as well as to improve education and professional training of nurses and medical technicians with the emphasis on permanent quality improvement of health care in general and patient care as well.
