Meeting of Serbian Medical Society’s Endocrinology Section Held

The expert meeting organized by the Endocrinology Section of the Serbian Medical Society and the Clinic for Endocrinology, Military Medical Academy was held at the MMA.
In the opening session of the meeting the president of the Section Prof. Dr. Milan Petakov, Head of the Clinic for Endocrinology Col. Prof. Dr. Zoran Hajdukovic and Director of the Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases, Clinical Center of Serbia Academician Nebojsa Lalic discussed current issues.Apart from the topics of today's meeting it was discussed about the homogenization of endocrinology profession in our country and about the continuation of the current close cooperation of endocrinologist from different healthcare centers in order to improve practice.
The professional part of the program included lectures on endocrine tumors. Lt. Col. Dr. Sasa Kikovic from the Clinic for Endocrinology MMA lectured on methods of localization of insulinoma, a rare tumor of the beta cells with very different clinical picture, and hypoglycemia as the main clinical manifestation. Dr. Tatjana Isailovic from the Clinic for Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolic Diseases, Clinical Center of Serbia spoke about diagnostic techniques and treatment of neuroendocrine tumors, while the internist-endocrinologist Dr. Sanja Ognanjovic also from the Clinic for Endocrinology, Clinical Center of Serbia delivered a lecture on experiences in treating these complicated nonspecific malignancies by chemoembolization of the liver.
