MMA members at a seminar on sepsis

Representatives of the Military Medical Academy participated in a national seminar on sepsis held in Belgrade.
The Head of the MMA Clinic for Infectious and Tropical Diseases, Prof. Dr. Vesna Begović-Kuprešanin, and the Head of the MMA Institute of Microbiology, Lt. Col. Dr. Bojan Rakonjac, spoke about the MMA's experiences with case reports, which illustrated the complexity of sepsis diagnostics and therapy.
The seminar on novelties and different approaches in sepsis diagnostics and therapy, organized by the Serbian Association for Clinical Microbiology, brought together around 200 participants, doctors from various fields of medicine, including microbiologists, infectologists, intensivists and pediatricians, as well as visiting colleagues from the Republika Srpska. During the meeting, key topics related to sepsis were addressed, including advanced methods in microbiological diagnostics of blood infections, treatment problems caused by antimicrobial resistance, specificities of pediatric sepsis, and implementation of quality control in diagnostics.
On this occasion, a national guide for the diagnosis of sepsis was also promoted, which aims to standardize and improve the clinical approach to this serious medical problem.
