On the occasion of the International nurses day at the Military Medical Academy, State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Bojan Jocic, Deputy Head of the Military Medical Academy, Colonel Prof. Dr. Dragan Dincic, as well as employees of this military medical institution and numerous guests attended the ceremony.

The International nurses day is celebrated on May 12, on the day Florence Nightingale was born, who was the founder of modern nursing and a great woman rights activist. This day has been already celebrated for thirteenth time in this military medical institution.

The Head nurse of the Military Medical Academy Verica Milovanovic pointed out in her welcome speech the great importance of the profession she belonged to.

- Behind us are many years of work in which generations have invested their knowledge and skills and have successfully overcome numerous problems with joint efforts. They have set new goals and tasks for a better future. Our profession is difficult and demanding, stressful and responsible, and it continually requires the advancement of knowledge and skills and good communication, said the Head nurse of the Military Medical Academy and added that the success of a patient depends on the work of the nurses, so the nurses must regularly follow the development of medical science and improve their work on a daily basis.

As in the previous years, on the occasion of the International nurses day, the nurse of the year, as well as the best nurses of a group of clinics, institutes and centers of this medical institutions were proclaimed.

The selection committee unanimously decided to modify the selection rules this year and to reward the Head nurse of the Military Medical Academy Verica Milovanovic, not only for the last year, but for the overall work, because she would retire soon and end her fruitful years of work. She was a founder of this awarding tradition on the occasion of the International nurses day.

Congratulating colleagues on the holiday, the Deputy Head of the Military Medical Academy, Colonel Professor Dragan Dincic, emphasized that it is a difficult and responsible profession.
