At the Military Medical Academy, the first act of breast reconstruction after mastectomy was performed with the Motiva Flora tissue expander, an innovative expander from a renowned world manufacturer.

The operation, which represents a step forward in the current surgical treatment of cancer, was attended by the Head of the Group of Surgical Clinics of the MMA Col Prof. Dr. Boban Đorđević, Director of Establishment Labs for Europe Filip Bosna and Global Manager for ABR Josip Kovačević.

The most important feature of the expander is that it does not contain metal and that after installation it enables air therapy and a whole series of diagnostic procedures, including magnetic resonance as an additional method for early diagnosis of the disease, which was not the case until now.

The operation was performed by the Head of the Clinic for Plastic Surgery and Burns of the Military Medical Academy, Colonel Prof. Dr. Nenad Stepić with his team. On this occasion, he appreciated the decision to perform the first intervention with a state-of-the-art expander in the MMA. He emphasized that more than a hundred breast reconstruction operations are performed at the MMA annually and that following world trends in surgery remains the basic principle of work at the MMA.

On the occasion of the operation performed at the MMA, the director of Establishment Labs for Europe, Mr. Filip Bosna, said that it was a great honor that the MMA accepted to be the first in Serbia to operate installing the latest generation "Flora Tissue Expander" breast expander and thanked him for the opportunity to attend the event. He added that the use of the most advanced products and the improvement of reconstruction techniques greatly contribute to the health and quality of life of patients who have suffered from breast cancer and that today's operation is another indicator that the company Establishment Labs prioritizes the health and well-being of women.
