About malnutrition
Research has shown that malnutrition associated with any disease occurs in at least 30 million people annually in Europe and that one in four patients is malnourished when admitted to hospital. Malnutrition in patients increases the risk of complications in any field of medicine and slows down recovery after treatment. This increases the cost of hospital treatment by up to three times, re-hospitalization is more frequent, and treatment results are worse.
