Anesthesia Seminar on Airways and Mechanical Ventilation held at the MMA

Belgrade, December 15, 2009 – Organized by the MMA’s Clinic for Anesthesiology and Critical Care and the Serbian Medical Society’s Section for Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Treatment, professional Seminar on ‘ Airways and Mechanical Ventilation’ with participation of over 300 medical workers from Serbia, Montenegro and the Republic of Srpska was held at the Military Medical Academy. The Seminar was led by the head of the MMA’s Clinic for Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, Col. Prof. Dr. Predrag Romić.
The MMA’s head, Major General Prof. Dr. Miodrag Jevtić welcomed the initiative to held such a professional event dealing with actual problem associated with the increased need for mechanical ventilation in patients with severe H1N1 infection.
‘Medicine knows no limits, neither administrative nor any others. The human life represents the universal value, and physicians are well aware of the fact that fight for human life can be won only by joint efforts and multidisciplinary approach coupled with the application of the latest information and achievements in medical profession’, said General Jevtić.
The Seminar was conducted in two sessions on the following topics:
1. Airway Clearance Maintenance – recommendations, means and methods, and
2. Mechanical Ventilation – ranging from basic principles to advanced forms

The MMA’s experts delivered 17 lectures in which they presented the latest information and their own experiences in the said fields. There were three roundtable discussions focused on the exchange of theoretical and practical knowledge in airway clearance and
mechanical ventilation methods.
