A New Angiography Unit at the Military Medical Academy

Minister of Defense Dragan Šutanovac officially opened a new angiography suite in the MMA’s Center for cardiovascular pathology. Since today, the capacities of the Center will be extended to allow for performance of 1 000 procedures a year as well as the state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures, and the treatment of cardiovascular diseases according to the highest standards.
Two Jubilees at the Military Medical Academy

Today, the Military Medical Academy has celebrated two important jubillees, one to commemorate one hundredth anniversary of the birth of the Academician, Gen. Dr. Gojko Nikoliš, and the other to mark the 30th birthay of the MMA’s facility. On that occasion, the portrait bust of Dr. Gojko Nikoliš, one of the men who deserves the most credit for establishing this hospital, has been unveiled. The bust is the work of Mr. Vladimir Jokanović.
New Presidency of the Serbian Medical Society’s Dermatovenerology Section elected

At its regular session held on September 30, 2011, in Novi Sad, the Dermatovenerology Section of the Serbian Medical Society elected new presidency team to head the Section in the next 4-year period.

At its session held on the Zlatibor mountain, on September 23, 2011, the General Assembly of the Serbian Medical Society’s Surgical Section re-elacted the head of the MMA Clinic for General Surgery, Col. Prof. Dr. Nebojša Stanković as the president of the Surgery Section for another 4-year term.
„Reconstructive surgical procedures in maxillofacial surgery“

The scientific seminar on „Reconstructive surgical procedures in maxillofacial surgery“ held at the Military Medical Academy dealt with the problems related to reconstruction of facial defects caused by traumatic injuries or tumor ablation, which is considered one of the most complex surgical procedures.
The Paper Awarded at the European Congress of Otorhinologists in Barcelona

The paper devoted to "Angiofibroma arising from the middle turbinate: an immunohistochemical study’’ authored by the group of doctors from the Military Medical Academy, among whom were Dr. Aleksandar Perić and Assist. Prof. Dr. Nenad Baletić from the Otorhinolaryngology Clinic as well as Prof. Dr. Snežana Cerović and Assist. Prof. Dr. Biserka Vukomanović-Đurđević from the Pathology Institute, was awarded at the Congress of the Confederation of the European Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery (ORL-HNS) held in Barcelona, Spain, in July 2011. Dr. Perić was the winner of the award for the best presentation of the said paper.

Igor Gregorič, a cardiosurgeon and the Chief of Transplant Service and Director of Mechanical Circulatory Support for St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital at the Texas Heart Institute delivered the lecture on ’’Heart Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support’’ at the Military Medical Academy.
